Data Analytics Engineer

At Tovala, we eat data for breakfast… along with our delicious biscuits. Our team is a small group of analysts and engineers who are passionate about helping teams across the Tovala organization make data-driven decisions. We are looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our data team. This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining data models that facilitate advanced data analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making across the company. The Analytics Engineer will sit on the data engineering team and collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and ready for analysis, with a specific focus on enhancing growth marketing efforts.


How you will spend your time at Tovala:
  • Analytics Enablement: Build trusted, scalable data models that serve as a foundation for analysis across the company.
  • Data Democratization: Increase data accessibility by organizing and surfacing key datasets for self-serve use by stakeholders.
  • Insight Acceleration: Partner with analysts and decision-makers to enable faster, deeper insights by improving the usability and transparency of our data.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all data systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, pipelines, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor data systems for issues and troubleshoot problems as they arise, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of data collection and processing.​
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics, applying this knowledge to enhance data modeling efforts.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Participate in code reviews, documentation efforts, and knowledge-sharing activities to foster collaboration and continuous learning.


About you:
  • You have 1-3 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data analytics, or a similar role.
  • You have strong SQL programming skills and have experience working in a data warehouse environment (preferably Snowflake).
  • You have a deep understanding of conceptual data modeling best practices.
  • You have hands-on experience with dbt.
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teams to translate business needs into scalable data models. 
  • You have experience with data validation, testing, and ensuring high data quality.(Nice to have).
  • You have experience with version control. (Nice to have).
  • You have experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau, Power BI).​(Nice to have)
  • You have familiarity with marketing data and segments, including CRM, attribution, and campaign performance metrics.
