Digital Enablement Platform:

The Digital Enablement Platform team is responsible to build the next generation of applications, Services, micro services and SDKs to facilitate Web and mobile commerce in everyone's digital lives. Our focus is to build profoundly simple services, apps and SDKs that embed into our customers' everyday lives. We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Software Engineer with 1 to 3 years of experience and specializing in Java Backend Development. The ideal candidate will have a strong development knowledge of Core Java, Spring, Spring boot, API development, services and micro services, integration and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD). In this position, you are first and foremost a passionate and talented developer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of Agile Scrum teams.  

 

This position is based in VISA Bangalore, India.

 

The Opportunity:

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Senior Manager of Web Development who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Senior Manager, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.   

 

As the Senior Manager of Web Development, you will be responsible for overseeing the web development team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality web applications, and driving the technical direction of our projects.

You will leverage your strong technical skills, including coding proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and React, to contribute to solution design, automation, and hands-on coding.

Additionally, you will utilize your exceptional people and engineering management skills to mentor and lead a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Management:

  • On-time delivery with high quality for the identified deliverables in each of the sprint, quarter, and releases.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of web developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to a team of software engineers (Full time employees and contractors)

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and create professional development plans for team members.

  • Conduct Design Assessments and Operational Effectiveness Testing for Controls and KRIs mapped to technology.

  • Hire, retain and grow a high-performing team of software engineers and Invest in the career development of direct reports.

  • Create an engineering culture of creativity and innovation.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide technical leadership to the team by participating in design, coding, and code reviews.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in TypeScript/ JavaScript, with a strong emphasis on React and Redux framework.

  • Lead the development and implementation of web applications, and Web SDKs ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.

  • Actively participate in Solution design, architecture, and development of key initiatives.

  • Ensure developed solutions adhere to established architectural best patterns and target state. 

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and integrate modern tools and practices.

 

Solution Design and Automation:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications and actionable plans.

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of web solutions, ensuring they meet business needs and technical standards.

  • Identify opportunities for automation (UT, IT and Functional regression) and implement processes to enhance development efficiency and quality.

  • Foster the culture of Engineering Excellence (quality, security, performance, scalability, availability, resilience etc.) , CI/CD, Automation and Shift-Left.

 

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of web projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and TPMs, to ensure alignment and effective project execution.

  • Lead scrum ceremonies and program management activities.

  • Play a crucial role in interfacing with business stakeholders (including TPMs) to define solutions and requirements, prioritize, and drive execution using agile methodologies.

  • Implement safe agile methodologies and best practices to drive project success and adaptability.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.

 

Quality Assurance and Maintenance:

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes within the team.

  • Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to coding guidelines.

  • Manage the maintenance and optimization of existing web applications, ensuring their stability and performance.

 

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
11+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
11 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

Proven experience as a Senior Web Developer, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager with a strong background in web development.

Minimum 3yrs experience leading the architectural design and development of JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs for seamless integration into mobile applications across native, web, and hybrid platforms.

Experience in establishing and optimising CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, versioning, and distribution systems to ensure reliable releases 

Drive implementation of comprehensive testing strategies including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to maintain exceptional code quality and security standards for fintech applications​​

Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and React, with hands-on coding experience.

Strong understanding of web development best practices, front-end frameworks, and modern development tools.

Demonstrated experience in people management, including team leadership, performance management, and mentoring.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to design and implement technical solutions.

Strong project management skills with experience in agile methodologies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

A proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented mindset.
