Voyant is seeking a Senior Analog Engineer to design precision, low-noise, high-speed circuits (up to 500 MHz) for PCB-based systems. This role involves developing cutting-edge analog circuit solutions using discrete components and catalog parts, pushing the boundaries of noise and bandwidth performance. The engineer will collaborate closely with the systems team, test team, and core photonic design team (including company founders) to design critical circuits. Over time, this role offers opportunities for increased ownership of electronic system design, working on more complex projects, and gaining exposure to FPGA designs and DSP for analog signal processing.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in a hybrid hardware company. As we prepare to launch our first generation of sensors at scale, your work will directly shape the future of high-performance, affordable LiDAR sensing technology. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy tackling complex challenges, and are excited about transforming the sensing landscape, we’d love to hear from you.
Design analog circuits using commercial off-the-shelf components for precision, low-noise, and high-speed applications.
Develop and implement op amp circuits, active and passive filters, data converters, and power supply solutions.
Create detailed schematics and collaborate closely with PCB layout engineers.
Perform circuit simulations and analyze test results to validate designs.
Troubleshoot complex analog circuits and resolve design issues.
Work closely with mechanical engineering and microelectronic packaging teams to optimize component placement and routing for signal integrity and EMI performance.
Document designs, test procedures, and performance specifications.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical discussions.
Stay up to date with analog design techniques and new component offerings.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) with coursework in analog circuit design, control systems, or signal processing.
7+ years of hands-on experience designing analog and mixed-signal circuits, specifically using off-the-shelf precision components from manufacturers such as Analog Devices or Texas Instruments.
Demonstrated expertise in designing, optimizing, and testing one or more of the following:
Precision op amp circuits with offset voltages <25 μV and bias currents <1 nA.
Passive filters with stopband attenuation >60 dB and defined ripple characteristics.
High-resolution (>12 bit, >100 Msps) data converters with proper anti-aliasing and reconstruction filters.
Low-noise circuits achieving <10 nV/√Hz input-referred noise density.
Current sources approaching the shot noise limit.
Low-noise transimpedance amplifiers with bandwidths >100 MHz.
Instrumentation amplifiers with CMRR >90 dB for sensor interfaces.
Power supply rejection techniques achieving >80 dB PSRR.
Switched-mode power supplies with >90% efficiency.
Package-level signal integrity simulation achieving crosstalk < -50 dB.
Efficient PWM or class-D amplifiers with switching frequencies >1 MHz.
Proficiency with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, TINA-TI, Cadence PSpice) including Monte Carlo and worst-case analysis.
Ability to manage trade-offs between performance, power, and cost.
Strong understanding of signal and power integrity, particularly in high-density interconnect (HDI) designs with precision analog and high-current circuits.
Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance requirements (FCC Part 15, CISPR 22) and mitigation techniques.
Experience with lab validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Competitive base salary and meaningful equity package.
Comprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision).
Unlimited PTO and paid company holidays.
Team events and company meetups.
