Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

 

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Development, the Senior Training Specialist will be focused primarily on implementation and facilitation of trainings within a Learning and Development function that supports over 450 stakeholders within the Enrollment and Student Success teams. This individual will also plan and facilitate multiple colleague onboarding programs, and other trainings as needed. This individual possesses a strong, consultation skillset to effectively partner with stakeholders across the business, delivering on the needs to support major initiative launches.

Sr. Training Specialist will support the project workflow and business needs for the Walden University Learning, Development, and Enablement function focused primarily on product knowledge, process, skills and technical training. This individual will play a key role in partnering with stakeholders in areas such as assessing needs, recommending modalities for training delivery, establishing timelines, creating (in partnership with the Instructional Designer) resources and media, and coordinating and delivering instruction. They will also partner and guide other team members to ensure consistency within the team. The Sr Training Specialist role functions as a role model for our TEACH values.



Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a primary training partner in implementing the Walden University learning and development curriculum. This includes (but is not limited to) setting up and launching online and in-person or hybrid training, acting as the point-of-contact for leaders of stakeholder groups, and pulling completion reports and other applicable data.
  • Leads colleague onboarding and training programs for enrollment and student success teams.
  • Provide additional support as needed within the Walden University learning, development, and enablement function, such as facilitating instructor-led onboarding and technology sessions.
  • Serve as training partner on product, technology, and student recruitment requests for training or instructional resources directed to the enrollment and student success teams. This includes evaluating requests, recommending and developing a scope of work, meeting with subject matter experts to gain insights for content development, and executing the design, development, and delivery of the instruction or resource.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the Training team on an ongoing basis to ensure consistency and documented processes.
  • Ensures a seamless, student-centered process to deliver exceptional business performance results in partnership with cross functional teams.
  • Supports the training intake process, ensuring all projects are evaluated, prioritized, and implemented in consideration of internal resource availability and priorities of the business.
  • Work with Training Specialists to ensure consistent transfer of knowledge; provide coaching and mentoring; review all training content prior to Compliance submittal.
  • Manage multiple assignments according to plan. Monitors and reports progress to ensure that required work is delivered by all team members according to agreed SLA.
  • Represent the training team during meetings and participates in institutional activities and events.
  • Employ continuous development in the field of training and development by reading current journals, books, articles, attending seminars, etc. to stay on top of enhancements and trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.  
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a training specialist (or similar role) required.
  • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing and creating instructional resources in Rise 360, Storyline, or similar e-learning tools based on best practices for instructional systems design, development, and delivery.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills, including delivering/leading training in both on-ground and virtual environments.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with demonstrated experience with creating learning resources focused on technology and systems processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and adapt instruction within a remote work environment, including facilitation of training using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other platforms.
  • Effectively navigate within a highly regulated environment.
  • Adaptability to continued changes and shifts in business priorities and demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at any given time.
  • Highly focused on job priorities and customer needs.
  • Deadline-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple projects at any given time.
  • Ability to self-manage time and priorities in a work environment where delivery of training is online, virtual, and blended modalities.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills required (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint, etc.).

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $53,520 and $93,918. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
