Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Los Angeles, California

This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks.
  • Performs entry level work. 
  • Follows instructions to accomplish task assigned by senior staff.  
  • Meets required schedules while producing quality work.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis and must have completed at least three of years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SAP2000, and ETABS).

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Los Angeles, California. The selected candidate must be available to work in Los Angeles, California on a scheduled basis.
