Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Junior Engineer with experience in road and railway drainage design, to be based in the Spain Enterprise Capabilities Office in Madrid. This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, incorporating a combination of both in-office and remote working schedules.

The successful candidate will join our busy and expanding experienced team. The team provides assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of projects. Our clients work for private and public sector and include long term Framework Agreements with numerous Local Authorities together with Design and Build commissions for many major Contractors. Our group has an established track record of successfully delivering water designs for many years, throughout the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand among others. You may have the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic Transportation and Water projects, being part of a diverse and multicultural team for Enterprise Capabilities.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Works on engineering assignments involving drainage calculations and design of road or railway drainage.
  • Sets standards and procedures for CADD and modelling works; open to performing design work when required.
  • Self-checks of work products prior to submitting to others and participates in quality control reviews of documentation originated by equally or less experienced staff.
  • Assigns and coordinates tasks to other technical or administrative staff, mainly related to drafting.
  • Works on small projects or portions of larger projects supported by EC, with work being reviewed by senior or experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in road or railway drainage design, with a clear interest in developing a technical career in this field.
  • Proficiency in Civil3D and/or OpenRoads Designer, including their respective drainage modeling applications such as Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis and/or StormCAD.
  • Working experience in some of the hydraulics and hydrology software packages as HEC-RAS/HMS, SWMM, Epanet, Bentley and Innovyze packages, 12D, etc. is well considered.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering or related field.
