Technical Writer, Creativity Apps

Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. The Creative Applications team is looking for a Technical Writer to work on consumer iOS/macOS apps.

Description


In this role, you will be responsible for quickly grasping and distilling highly complex matters into clean, understandable documentation. The position requires a highly effective communicator with strong organizational skills. The Technical Writer will capture and document the following for use by internal engineering, QA, and UI design teams throughout the app development process including; detailed app specifications including user interaction workflows, and edge cases, functional requirements and UX writing. You will help drive and specify product, feature, and copy decisions with spec reviews and ongoing meetings with cross-functional teams. Your documentation will be indispensable to internal engineering and QA teams as they build and test world-class apps and features.

Minimum Qualifications


Understand and be able to document complex apps across platforms including Mac, iPad, and iPhone. At least 1 year of experience in documenting app interaction workflow and UI from start to finish during the product-development cycle. Demonstrate an ability to write structured, detailed specs, and a talent for uncovering edge cases. Enthusiasm and history working iteratively with design, engineering, and business teams to capture information. Have excellent composition and grammar skills. You are a champion UX copywriter who can draft elegant proposals, and then collaborate with a cross-functional team to create user-friendly, effective app copy. Understand the software life cycle. Be able to manage documentation schedules, reviews, and approval process, and to present work to large groups and executives. Work with minimal direction toward predetermined goals, and be able to quickly become proficient with new tools and software. Independently anticipate and resolve problems in a fast-paced application development team environment. BS/BA degree required in English, Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Writing, or other related degree. Love technical writing!

3+ years of technical writing experience with complex apps, or an advanced degree in Technical Communication.
