Staff Software Engineer

About Aptible

Our Mission & Vision

Aptible exists to simplify cloud infrastructure for every developer at every company. We envision a world where any developer can use Aptible to quickly unblock themselves, without having to wait on others to build or implement tools for them.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We see great value in bringing together a team with different perspectives, educational backgrounds, and life experiences, and we prioritize diversity within our team. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

About This Role

Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer at Aptible, you’ll be a technical leader for an ambitious, business-critical Product Engineering Team.

What We're Looking For

  • Typical Experience: 10+ Years of Experience in Software Engineering (Bonus: You have experience as a Software Engineer in the developer tools space.)

  • Technical Expertise: You have strong Software Engineering fundamentals and coding ability. You are a prolific and thoughtful developer in at least one mainstream language, and have the ability to easily pick up new ones.

  • Product Taste: You have a strong track record as an expert in the products you’ve built, and as a go-to resource for Product Design and Product Management during early feature and product planning. You have a strong interest in — if not a passion for — building developer tooling.

You Shouldn't Apply If

  • You only want to architect solutions, and no longer want to do hands-on implementation.

  • You only want to work with a specific language or technology.

  • You aren’t interested in writing full stack code. (Note: You don’t have to be expert in everything, but you will be expected to help out where it’s needed.)

  • You aren’t excited about building developer tooling.

Benefits

  • Work from Anywhere: Enjoy the flexibility of working from home, a local co-working space, or your favorite coffee shop.

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: We offer comprehensive health care for employees, with 100% of premiums paid by Aptible.

  • Flexible PTO Policy: We encourage you to take the time you need, when you need it — for any holiday or matter of personal importance.

  • Paid Parental Leave: We offer job-protected Paid Time Off — 14 Weeks, Fully Paid — for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child.

  • Learning & Development Stipend: We offer an annual stipend of $3,000 USD to use towards experiences that improve you professionally and inform your work at Aptible.

  • Hardware & Software: We help you create your ideal office setup and provide any software you’ll need.

  • Company Travel: We come together in-person at least once per year, in locations around the globe.

Interview Process

We want to make the experience of interviewing with us as delightful, efficient, fair, respectful, and transparent as possible. A typical process at Aptible might include the following steps. Please note that this may vary by role, and details will be provided to you early on in the process.

  1. Introduction to Aptible with the Hiring Manager

  2. 2-3 Skills-Based Interviews with Aptible Team Members

  3. Take-Home Project (You will be compensated for completing this.)

  4. References

If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let your Recruiter and/or Hiring Manager know.
