We are not just a worldwide market leader in apps for people who cannot speak. Our users are at the heart of what we do. Many of them are autistic, have cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and/or fine motor, vision or cognitive disabilities. What will you be doing?

  • Create and deliver vector illustrations for website articles, social media posts, advocacy campaigns, printed materials, presentations.
  • Create an easy-to-use illustration library that includes people, devices, patterns, shapes, etc.
  • Support the motion graphic designer and animator in the creation of assets.
  • Contribute in the improvement and development of illustration guidelines.
  • Translate project requests into practical solutions, contribute ideas in all the stages of a project ensuring timely delivery of assets.
  • Ensure illustrations help and support conveying ideas and concepts.
  • Seek feedback from multiple stakeholders to enact exceptional solutions.
  • Handle and organize working files, export completed illustrations or single elements, adjust formats and file sizes as needed.
  • Be an active and valuable member of the team and collaborate effectively with the Visual Design team and the rest of the AssistiveWare team.

What do we expect?

  • 3 to 5 years of multi-disciplinary experience in digital illustration.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Eligible to work and currently residing in the Netherlands. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.
  • A degree in an art-related field is preferred.
  • Strong foundational art and design skills: composition, shape, form, color, branding.
  • Experience in creating editorial illustrations, content for social media, communication campaigns and for educational purposes.
  • Confidence with vector, digital and traditional illustration techniques.
  • Good interpersonal skills, organization, and ability to coordinate/collaborate with diverse work styles and personalities.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while contributing to the team's dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools. Animation skills are a plus.
  • Experience or interest in representing diversity and in working in disability spaces is a plus.

Our office is located in a beautiful historic building in the Jordaan in Amsterdam. We currently work in a hybrid model.
