Hybrid Corporate Finance Manager (Insurance/Reinsurance)

Job Description

We are seeking a Corporate Finance Lead responsible for the preparation of quarterly, annual, and periodic US GAAP and IFRS financial statements. The successful candidate will lead research on FASB and IFRS developments, draft relevant accounting policies, and update accounting policy manuals. They will identify and implement process improvements, assist in the development and review of consolidated tax provisions, and provide updates to management on financial reporting requirements. Additionally, the candidate will develop and provide financial reports and maintain financial controls and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.

Responsibilities

  • Review and preparation of quarterly, annual and periodic US GAAP and IFRS financial statements to AWAC parent (“Fairfax”).

Lead in the research of:

  • FASB and IFRS developments and draft relevant accounting policy, including updating AWAC’s accounting policy manuals. 
  • Developments in reporting requirements, evaluate peer company filings, and continually improve the company’s financial statements. 
  • Lead in the identification and implementation of process improvements related to the company’s consolidated financial statement process.
  • Assist in development and review of the consolidated tax provision.
  • Provide updates to management on recent developments in financial reporting requirements, developments and trends in public reporting.Develop and provide financial reports and analysis, as may be required.
  • Maintain financial controls and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley; develop and maintain departmental controls and consistent procedures.
  • Lead consolidation process and reporting related to AWAC entities under US GAAP and IFRS.

Essential Skills

  • Detailed knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience in preparing US GAAP and IFRS financial statements.
  • Knowledge and experience with IFRS 17 preferred.
  • Experience with SOX 404 and maintaining a robust controls environment.
  • Experience in preparing GAAP and IFRS tax provisions.
  • 4-6 years of experience in public reporting for insurance and/or reinsurance companies.
  • Excellent communication, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Finance.
  • Accounting certification (CA, CMA, or CPA).

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring 3 days in the office.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.

Lead in the financial reporting and analysis, development, and maintenance of financial reporting controls for the company’s US GAAP and IFRS financial statements and reporting requirements.

Review and preparation of quarterly, annual and periodic US GAAP and IFRS financial statements to AWAC parent (“Fairfax”).
• Lead in the research of:
o FASB and IFRS developments and draft relevant accounting policy, including updating AWAC’s accounting policy manuals.
o Developments in reporting requirements, evaluate peer company filings, and continually improve the company’s financial statements.
• Lead in the identification and implementation of process improvements related to the company’s consolidated financial statement process.
• Assist in development and review of the consolidated tax provision.
