The Boeing Government Vehicle Health Management system (GVHMS) has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer ( Navy) join our team in Hazelwood, MO.
The Chief Engineer role is responsible for guiding the team technically in alignment with organizational strategy. This role will require the technical expertise to support all GVHMS navy programs including F/A-18, MQ-25 and future Navy platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring the products and capabilities have exceptional safety, quality, and integrity. This role is crucial in ensuring technical conduct, progress, performance, and results are executed in compliance with established requirements, plans, organizational charter and RAA, and that the required technical leadership is in place at lower levels for technical excellence and integrity of product design, development, production, support, supportability, and mission success.
Position Responsibilities:
• Leads Health Management Design Practices and their implementation across the organization
• Advises and supports engineers in their pursuit of Boeing Designated Expert (BDE) and/or the Technical Fellowship
• Establishes a culture of proactive technical oversight, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and an open dialogue on technical issues
• Regularly assesses the baseline technical execution plan against technology, complexity, and risk adjusted benchmarks of similar engineering efforts
• Prevents traveled technical risk and ensure that technical risks and issues are driven rapidly to closure
• Establishes a culture of technical expertise, service, and availability within the organization
• Advocate for Mission Assurance, Technical Independent Reviews (TIRs), and Non Advocate Reviews as required
• Implement a comprehensive Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM) to address all significant technical issues in the organization
• Implements and enforces engineering functional excellence in processes, tools, and practices; and share best practices and lessons learned
• Monitors Enterprise technology strategy activities and provide inputs to Enterprise Technology Strategy to ensure technology insertion and application is relevant to the organization
• To support cost and schedule baselines, design to cost targets and cost reduction initiatives, while ensuring the safety, quality, and technical excellence and integrity of the product. NOTE: Key processes include gated reviews, executability reviews
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 10+ years of experience in leading engineers performing activities within two or more engineering disciplines
• 10+ years of experience of technical leadership experience in a combination of designing, developing or integrating aircraft systems and/or aircraft sub-systems
• 10+ years of experience communicating with technical experts and explaining difficult technical concepts to non-technical business
• Experience in all stages of development including generating technical documentation, system design and development, integration of systems development, structured analysis and design methodologies, integration and test/verification
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• A subject matter expert (SME) of maintenance products such as F/A-18 Automated Maintenance Environment (FAME) and/or Automated Logistics Environment (ALE) or similar
• 10+ years of experience with decomposing customer, strategy, system/subsystem requirements into software requirements
• Experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change
• Multi-disciplinary engineering technical expertise
• Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes
Travel: 10%. Must have the ability to travel domestically or internationally.

Summary Pay Range: $147,050 - $198,950
