Position Summary Brief description of the position including the title the position reports to, direct reports (if applicable)

Capital Impact, seeing the need to offer pathways for real estate developers to grow and succeed to vision and deliver impactful housing, commercial and other real estate to impact investments into underinvested communities. Capital Impact has created a number of cohort based training programs and local real estate development tools to support local developers design successful projects and access capital. The National Programs team is in the process of developing an integrated technical assistance process to deliver best in class individual (1:1) technical assistance supports to support developers across the lifespan of a real estate development project.

Capital Impact seeks highly organized and self-motivated interns to support the National Programs team to serve in various capacities in our highly collaborative environment and mission focused teams. Specifically, to support the goal of creating a consistent local “toolbox” to inform real estate development across our seven focused place based markets. The ideal candidates are committed to our mission of building inclusive and equitable communities by providing people access to the capital and opportunities they deserve.

Essential Responsibilities

Technical Assistance Programs Internship: The Intern will work with the Director of Healthy Communities and the National TA Manager to support the development of real estate development tools and resources and delivery channels to support 1:1 technical assistance.  Specifically, the Intern will:

  • Support the Director of Healthy Communities to conduct an inventory of existing tools, templates, resources and guidance publications that have been produced and/or utilized by the National Programs Team or other Momentus Capital teams to provide capacity building in any aspect of the real estate development process.
  • Codify TA topics, develop contact list, organize by geography and topic and develop a recommended set of “minimum” standards
  • Support talent inventory of both internal and external 3rd party advisors to identify gaps in TA capacity based upon TA Priorities survey results.
  • Work with the local Program Team leads to map the timeline of typical real estate project(s) by geography and develop a regional and local capital source list to support TA delivery.
  • Work with the National TA Manager to support the development of an ‘Internal FAQ’ on what we can and cannot do related to lender liability (internal communication tool)

Internships are available (all are hybrid in-person/remote) in EST.   Internships will be for 3 months and will be 40 hours a week.

  • Strong skills in online resourcing, searching, compiling and prioritizing tools.
  • Familiarity with community development, program management and/or the real estate industry is preferred.
  • Strong interest in community development and capacity building of local community leaders.
  • Strong operational and execution skills (planning, problem solving etc.).
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and sound decision making in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g., presentations, periodic reports).
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel, SmartSheet, PowerPoint), Adobe and Google suite (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets) is required.

The salary range for this position is $18 - $20 an hour.

 

This role is primarily remote with in office activities, must be able to go in when required (about once a month).
