Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Paralegal with extensive knowledge of post-judgment collections to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of California civil procedure, enforcement of judgments, and debt collection laws. This role requires excellent legal research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple collection matters efficiently.
Position Responsibilities:
· Assist attorneys with post-judgment enforcement strategies, including wage garnishments, bank levies, debtor examinations, liens, and asset investigations.
· Draft and file motions, applications for renewal of judgments, abstracts of judgment, and other legal documents.
· Conduct legal research related to enforcement of judgments and debtor asset discovery.
· Prepare and submit writs of execution and coordinate with sheriffs’ offices for enforcement actions.
· Communicate with debtors, opposing counsel, courts, and law enforcement agencies as needed.
· Maintain case files, deadlines, and document management in compliance with California legal standards.
· Assist with client reporting and updates regarding collection efforts.
Required Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong focus on post-judgment collections.
· Extensive knowledge of California civil procedure, debt collection laws, and judgment enforcement.
· Experience handling wage garnishments, bank levies, and debtor examinations.
· Proficiency in legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program.
· Experience in a litigation or collections law firm
· Familiarity with both commercial and consumer debt collection practices.
· Ability to work independently and proactively in executing collection efforts.
