Head of Product Design

Education Perfect is an EdTech platform designed to empower educators and amplify their impact in the classroom. We aim to enable teachers to personalise learning at scale with a range of powerful learning, assessment, and insights tools, helping them and their students reach their full potential.

We are searching for an experienced and visionary Head of Product Design to lead our design function and shape the future of digital learning.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and executing a strategic design vision that ensures seamless, engaging and accessible learning experiences for students and teachers. You will lead a small, high-performing team of product designers, mentor content designers and work closely with cross-functional teams to embed user-centred design at the core of our product strategy. As both a leader and a hands-on practitioner, you will advocate for design as a key driver of business success, champion discovery practices and set the standard for design excellence across our platform. What you will do

  • Develop and communicate a multi-year product design and IA vision aligned with product strategy and EP’s mission
  • Advocate for design as a key driver of competitive advantage at a leadership level
  • Lead the software product design team while mentoring the content product design team, fostering clarity, professional development and the standardisation of design practices and discovery approaches
  • Collaborate with marketing to integrate brand personality into the learning platform aligning design patterns and branding across all products in the EP portfolio
  • Establish accessibility benchmarks for world-class inclusive design
  • Maintain consistency in user experience through the evolution of our Design System
  • Champion a user-centered, inclusive and evidence-based design culture
  • Measure the effectiveness of design initiatives based on product performance, user satisfaction and business impact
  • Develop and refine effective product discovery practices, leading design discovery and product prototyping to inform strategy and design
  • Own and drive user research, ensuring customer insights shape decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with users (students, teachers, school leaders and parents) and engage in continuous discovery and feedback collection to iterate and improve design solutions
  • Act as a Lead Designer for a product team or key design initiatives, transforming concepts into user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity mockups
  • Collaborate with Agile product and engineering teams to ensure effective implementation while applying a user-focused, data-informed approach with rapid testing and iteration

About you

  • 8+ years of experience as a software design leader
  • Ability to lead, motivate, coach and support designers to deliver high-quality work and achieve product design excellence
  • Comfortable prioritising and switching between multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain productive, professional relationships with internal teams
  • Team player who works effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to improve design standards, practices and workflows
