Backend Engineer

Frequence is the only end-to-end platform for media companies and agencies to grow and automate their advertising sales and operations while integrating owned and operated media. Through its full-stack proposal, workflow, and campaign-management software, Frequence drives revenue with best-in-class tools to sell, optimize, and report omnichannel advertising campaigns.

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join one of our cross-functional Agile development teams. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to build scalable, high-quality software while continuously improving our systems and processes.

Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, a sense of ownership, and a passion for building reliable and efficient backend systems. You will have opportunities to take on increasing levels of responsibility based on your experience and contributions.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and optimize backend systems that solve complex problems with simple, scalable solutions.

  • Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.

  • Debug and troubleshoot production issues to maintain system reliability.

  • Contribute to the development of APIs and services, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.

  • Collaborate closely with teammates through code reviews and technical discussions.

  • Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to the evolution of our platform.

  • Improve observability, monitoring, and system performance.

  • Take ownership of features, modules, or systems, driving technical improvements and reducing technical debt.

  • Engage with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 2-5 years experience in backend or full-stack software development, with a track record of delivering high-quality software.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Go, C#, Java, Kotlin, Rust).

  • Knowledge of software design patterns and API development (REST, gRPC).

  • Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and distributed systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

  • Ability to write and review technical documentation.

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, Agile environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical concepts with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have, but not required:

  • Experience with Golang.

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Knowledge of AdTech or experience in a similar domain.
