Front Line Supervisor, Paint - 2nd Shift

Job Description

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work of mechanics on crew.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of work is completed within budgeted and scheduled parameters.
  • Assign and status MACPAC work orders/coordinate operational schedule.
  • Support and administer labor contract and ensure safety regulations.
  • Communicate with other supervisors to help achieve and maintain smooth work flow and high degree of productivity.
  • Use electronic Time Accounting System (WFM) to maintain employees' time and overtime daily.
  • Perform all assigned work in accordance with established BIW safety procedures.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

High school/GED required.NACE Level 1 or NBPI certification preferred.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Trades experience in an industrial or construction environment required.
  • Two years' experience in industrial/marine painting and/or abrasive blasting preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of plural component spray equipment systems desired.
  • Experienced in the use of portable blasting, ultra-high pressure water jetting and dehumidification equipment desired.
  • Understanding of Navy Standard Items 009-32, desired.
  • Understanding of SSPC Systems and Specifications, desired.
  • Solid understanding of shipbuilding processes and MACPAC systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities required.
  • Must be competent in MS Office products to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a production environment desired.
  • Ability to work all areas of a ship, including tanks.
  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance preferred.
