Huntsman is seeking an Application Engineer – Subject Matter Expert for Formulated Industrial Adhesives supporting the ADMAT Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Sr. Technical Services Manager.

Job Scope

Huntsman Advanced Materials is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Adhesives Expert to join our dynamic team in the Americas. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and supporting advanced adhesive solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of industrial adhesives, technical expertise, strong customer-facing skills, and a passion for innovation.

In summary, as the Application Engineer – Subject Matter Expert for Formulated Industrial Adhesives, you will:  

• Drive the advancement and implementation of new industrial adhesive solutions by working closely with project managers, design engineers, and operations at industry manufacturers to support the Advanced Materials division’s objectives and growth plans.
• Collaborate with customers to understand their adhesive needs and provide tailored solutions.
• Obtain qualifications with industry manufacturers for Huntsman’s formulated adhesives.  Negotiate product specifications with customers as needed to align Huntsman capabilities with customer expectations.
• Proactively network and develop industry relationships and build strategic connections to drive growth, innovation and influence within the industrial adhesives industry.
• Collaborate with customer technical and manufacturing teams to identify and diagnose challenges and recommend process or product improvements.
• Identify opportunities for enhancement in industrial adhesives products, processes, and materials, and deliver solutions that provide improved performance and efficiency.
• Lead and support the development of new adhesive products and technologies.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of Huntsman’s advanced materials product portfolio for industrial adhesives and their applications and benefits.
• Provide expert guidance on adhesive application methods, adhesive testing, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting
• Work closely with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to ensure successful product launches, market positioning, and alignment of technical solutions with customer needs.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams, addressing any issues or challenges related to industrial adhesives.
• Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions for customers, distributors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Champion Huntsman’s EHS practices and ensure that all formulated adhesive products meet or exceed quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated with industry trends, market demands, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including technical activities and solutions, application guidelines, and customer interactions.
• Collaborate with global market and technical teams to share knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial adhesives, with a focus on high performance and applications.
• Proven technical expertise in adhesive technologies, application techniques, and adhesive testing, with the ability to solve complex problems.

Skills and knowledge

•  Excellent customer-facing skills to build relationships, identify and assess requirements and needs, and work collaboratively to create technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively and influence various functions at customers and within the organization.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and quality control processes.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the Americas as needed. Domestic travel to customers and industry events (anticipated travel of 25-40%).  International travel minimal, up to 2 times per year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced technical degree or Master’s in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Experience with thermoset polymers or advanced materials.
