Lead Product Designer - 6-month contract (Central or Eastern time zone)

We are Foolproof, a product design specialist working closely with Indigo Slate, a Seattle based Marketing powerhouse with deep expertise in marketing for technology brands. Both companies are owned by Zensar, a global technology provider. Regardless of the brand, each remains committed to the power of experience-led design, marketing and engineering.

We are looking for a Lead Product Designer who has a passion for creating digital products and services that create value for our clients. You will have demonstrable hands-on experience of working on responsive web experiences and native apps, with demonstrable experience in designing for data-driven B2B platforms.

You will work across every stage of the product lifecycle – from early-stage innovation, through to continuous improvement and on to reinventing existing products and services to drive better outcomes for our clients, their employees and their customers.

You will lead a small team of product designers working directly with key client stakeholders, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality design work that moves our client forward, against the demanding timelines.  You will approach the work you do and the way you work with intelligence, imagination, drive and humility.

Key skills and experience

  • A product development or experience design or consultancy background.
  • A hybrid designer with an outstanding portfolio showcasing a foundation in design research, user experience, interaction and visual design, and particular strengths in one or two of these areas.
  • A combination of experience in designing for mobile native and web applications, as well as other product interfaces.
  • An understanding of technical platforms and how to get things built.
  • Consistent track record of balancing a design lead role with getting your hands dirty in the work where needed.
  • A strategic mindset and vision-driven approach where you consistently break down complex ideas into tangible design direction, aligned to product strategy and delivery.
  • A consultative mindset, able to spot opportunities to become an advisor to our clients, able to support them in driving change in their organisation, beyond the project you’re working on.
  • A strong systems thinker who understands how the pieces connect, continuously experimenting and improving human and business outcomes.
  • A strong communicator both visually and verbally.
  • A growth mindset, curious and eager to explore diverse ideas and learning, and seeking new opportunities and challenges.

What you will be doing

As a Lead Product Designer, you will be part of a team working on iterative digital transformation projects. You will work closely with the product owner from discovery through delivery, using your expertise in app behaviours, interaction patterns for app experiences and native functionality to improve the customer experience.

Shape visions. Work with design, insights & data, product management, and engineering to explore new strategic areas for the product, make sense of ambiguous challenges and turn this into impactful experience.

Drive quality. Take a lead role in setting the product design direction, running multi-disciplinary critiques and owning our creative reputation.

Tackle high-impact problems. Partner with engineering and product management to ensure a high-quality implementation that meets both user, business and technology stakeholder needs.

Confidently create design systems for clients, or just as easily work with and evolve existing design systems.

Be a coach and design leader to our clients and our design teams; planning and leading collaborative sessions with cross-functional product teams, playing an advisory role to clients.

Our methodology

  • Discover, imagine, create and deliver products and services that make things better for our clients, their customers, their employees and the world.
  • Bring together insight, creativity and technology to deliver experiences that transform our clients’ businesses.
  • Outcome driven, embody objectivity and people-centricity in everything we do.
  • Continuous discovery, delivery and learning through a collaborative, iterative design process.
  • Champion experimentation, conceptual thinking and creative expression in design.
  • Thought leadership in experience, design, branding and design systems through contributing to conferences and industry panels.
