Job Description

The Content Manager, BAR will lead content creation process for the NextGen Bar Exam, launch and post-launch.

Primary/Key Responsibilities

  • NextGen Bar Exam Expertise: Maintain deep understanding of NextGen Bar Exam requirements, characteristics, NCBE updates, and scoring rubrics. Develop expertise in prompt writing and explanation writing.
  • Content Creation & Management: Produce and oversee the creation of high-quality, test-like NextGen Bar Exam content, especially questions, explanations, and leveraging AI tools (utilizing excellence in prompt-writing skills) and Kaplan platforms for efficiency. Incorporate insights from marketing and consumer insights research to ensure commercial and competitive goals are met. This includes drafting, tagging, reviewing, and editing items, ensuring alignment with skill/subject/topic criteria, and incorporating feedback. Manage content flow, pace, and quality, addressing inconsistencies, especially in AI-generated content. Create style guides, item templates, and other documents to guide consistency and foster efficiency.
  • Contractor Management: Recruit, assign, monitor, and provide feedback to independent contractor item writers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, test-like work. Serve as liaison between Kaplan and content developers, reporting on project progress, obstacles, and status.
  • Production & LMS: Collaborate with digital production for LMS ingestion, reviewing, testing, and editing content within the LMS. Manage content organization and tracking.
  • Content Curation & Analysis: Collaborate on curated quizzes and exams. Analyze student performance data to inform content improvement and curriculum refinement. Develop content for institutional courses and programs, incorporating feedback. Collaborate with Learning Analytics and Psychometrics (LAP) to validate items, test forms, and other assessment materials. Develop a deep understanding of scoring rubrics and design workflows for human-evaluated items/sections, anticipating the potential development of AI-driven scoring solutions.
  • Product Innovation & Leadership: Contribute to the development and launch of innovative NextGen Bar Exam products, leveraging AI and other cutting-edge technologies. Focus on achieving measurable product outcomes, including engagement, pass rates, score increases, and commercial impact. Foster a culture of experimentation and calculated risk-taking. Collaborate effectively across Kaplan. Champion innovation and stay ahead of industry trends. Maintain a customer-centric approach to product development.
  • Ensure NextGen Bar Exam product excellence across all learning resources and services.
  • Optimize content production for quality, accuracy, and inclusivity.
  • Lead content creation across all delivery modalities.
  • Drive the development of engaging and effective learning experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 3+ years of experience in writing content
  • Licensed attorney (retired or inactive acceptable)
  • Understand the structure, content, and scoring of the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) and Multistate Bar Exam (MBE).
  • Tech-savvy, self-motivated team player with problem-solving skills.
  • Deep understanding of the subjects tested on the bar exam, as well as effective methods for studying and preparing for the exam.
  • Experience creating content for and/or preparing students for the bar exam.

For full-time positions, Kaplan has two Salary Grades, this position is Salary Grade A: $31,200 to $78,600. Actual compensation for this role is determined by several factors including but not limited to job level, candidate's skills, experience, and education, among other factors determined by the business.
