Location: Pittsburgh, PA – Hybrid (Office/Remote)
Salary: $75,000–$85,000 + performance incentives
Reports to: Director of Sales
Status: Full-time, Salaried
Company: Local Roots Landscaping

At Local Roots Landscaping, we build Pittsburgh’s most beautiful and functional outdoor spaces — and we do it with care, collaboration, and a relentless focus on quality. As we grow, we’re looking for a seasoned Project Estimator to support our high-performing sales team by producing timely, accurate, and profitable estimates across residential design/build and occasional commercial landscape projects.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-first culture, enjoys collaborating with both clients and coworkers, and knows how to balance attention to detail with big-picture priorities.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce accurate, detailed estimates for high-end residential landscapes (outdoor living spaces, hardscapes, pools, etc.) and occasional commercial projects
  • Support both design-driven and bid/build projects — sometimes with full plans, sometimes without
  • Perform site visits, conduct takeoffs, and use tools like LMN, SketchUp, and NearMap
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team — attending meetings, walking jobs, and presenting proposals
  • Assist in scope development and value engineering to align client desires with budget and production realities
  • Review proposals and collaborate with operations to ensure accuracy of hours, material quantities and feasibility of projects
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness to the sales team’s needs and timelines
  • Play a key role in helping us sell a high volume of profitable work

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Deep experience in estimating within the landscape or construction industry
  • Excellent prioritization and time management — you’re energized by deadlines and complexity
  • Sharp attention to detail and quality
  • Comfortable on-site, at the desk, or in client-facing conversations
  • Naturally collaborative and clear in your communication
  • Professional, warm, and polished — you instill confidence in clients and teammates alike
  • You want to be part of a high-performing, gracious team that wins together

The Local Roots Culture

We’re refined but laid back — serious about our work but kind in how we go about it. We move fast, care deeply about the details, and have each other’s backs. If you thrive in a culture where expectations are high but people are even better, you’ll fit right in.

  • Performance-based incentives tied to results
  • Standard Local Roots benefits package (health, PTO, retirement, etc.)
  • Hybrid flexibility: work from our office, the field, and remotely
