Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all phlebotomy services by ensuring accurate and efficient specimen collection, maintaining high-quality standards, and promoting a positive patient experience. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Plan and schedule phlebotomy services to meet the daily, weekly, and monthly patient and departmental needs.
-Allocate phlebotomy resources effectively to various hospital units and outpatient areas.
-Ensure compliance with hospital and laboratory policies, as well as relevant regulatory guidelines related to phlebotomy procedures.
-Develop and implement quality control measures to maintain accurate and reliable specimen collection and labeling.
-Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition.
-Address patient concerns and inquiries related to specimen collection procedures and provide necessary support.
-Collect and maintain accurate data on phlebotomy activities, including the number of specimens collected, turnaround times, and any issues encountered.


 

Qualifications

Education Associate's Degree Related Field of Study required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred MGH Security RMV Check/Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Report - MGB Internal preferred Experience Phlebotomy Experience 2-3 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and specimen handling procedures. - Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR) is advantageous. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. - Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage phlebotomy services efficiently. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.
