Motion Design Lead

Nexus Studios is seeking a dynamic Motion Design Lead to join us on a fixed-term contract. The target start date for this role is between Jan and March 2025

As Motion Design Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in scoping, scheduling, and executing high-end motion design-based projects from early pitches to final delivery. As a Cinema 4D expert, you'll be collaborating closely with Directors, helping shape the creative and technical direction, guiding teams to high standards of quality, timeliness, and budget control. This is an exciting role for someone passionate about bringing innovative projects to life and contributing to Nexus’ acclaimed portfolio.

What you'll be doing

  • Inspire and oversee motion design teams in creating high-quality 3D and 2D motion graphic projects, troubleshooting technical and creative issues.
  • Partner closely with Directors to address creative challenges and implement technical solutions that enhance vision and execution.
  • Contribute to pitches and briefs by offering insights on resourcing and approach during early project stages.
  • Plan resources, structure teams, and manage project schedules to ensure efficiency and keep projects on track.
  • Act as a key liaison with clients, ensuring clarity on project expectations and maintaining open communication throughout production.
  • Provide technical leadership by troubleshooting across production stages, utilizing expertise in 3D and compositing for seamless delivery.

What you'll bring

  • Expert knowledge of Cinema 4D and After Effects. Some Houdini knowledge would be a bonus but not essential.
  • At least 5 years experience of leading teams of artists, including the ability to scope project schedules and be client facing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Versatility when it comes to creative styles and the ability to adapt in an ever-evolving environment.
  • A problem solving attitude and an interest in pipeline-building.
