Our mission at Odys is simple - we build safe, sustainable aircraft to cut travel time in half on the world's busiest corridors. Our flagship aircraft Alta enables travelers to skip the big-airport hassle by using city helipads and local airports to connect cities less than 1,000 miles apart (approx 40% of flights). And on average cut CO2 by 76% on tens of billions of flight miles globally.
To get there, we start with our UAV called Laila for commercial logistics, medical transport, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and defense missions. We’re deploying aircraft with launch partners (Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, US Navy) beginning in late 2025 and already have firm orders for aircraft under contract.
We’re a team of expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace that focus on fast iterations loops (completed transition flight faster than our peers) combined with mastery of the aircraft certification process. Previously, our team developed custom drones, brought multiple automotive platforms into production, and electrified transportation vehicles that magnetically levitate, that roll, that fly. Together, we’ve been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge our entire lives.
The test team at Odys is a key element of both our technology development and product verification work. We work in close coordination with all other engineering disciplines and have responsibility to ensure risks are understood and quantified, important datasets are extracted, and models are validated as quickly as possible. The test team lays the foundations of a methodical and data-driven test program to enable rapid prototype and hardware development.
As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design of test rigs from concept through execution. You will also identify and implement the appropriate test and data acquisition systems for individual test stands, integrated iron bird test platforms, and prototype aircraft . Safety is a key component for all our designs and operator safety must be given prime importance at all times. We are looking for engineers with experience in instrumentation, data acquisition, and test stand development who are excited about implementing powerful systems for commercial and defense UAS.
Responsibilities
Develop test solutions for in-house developed avionics and flight hardware products
Identify appropriate sensors, signal instrumentation circuits, and interface modules on both prototype aircraft and on-ground test platforms
Work with mechanical and electrical design engineers to identify test rig requirements
Assemble test setups including mechanical fixtures, cable routing, electrical sensor kits and instrumentation hardware
Write test stand programs, interface with data acquisition hardware, and setup data recording systems
Design and implement the safety circuit used for operational safety of test rigs
Implement HIL setup for our avionics and powertrain test rigs
Perform calibration and characterization tests
Generate professional documentation for test rig requirements, test matrices and test reports
Organize and maintain the test area and hardware setup
Perform tests on aircraft components, sub-assemblies and full aircraft
Coordinate with test vendors for material, components and assembly level tests
BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Alternatively, remote sensing, data science experience, with a strong quantitative and mechanical measurements foundation.
3+ years notable experience with test rig design/assembly, sensor installation and calibration, and data acquisition.
Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical design principles
Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques to verify and validate requirements
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Understand basic safety protocols common in electronics and high-power testing
Ability to travel as required for test planning and execution
Experience in High Voltage test rig design and powertrain testing
Demonstrated expertise in implementing high channel count measurement systems and architecting telemetry and video for near real-time display in a control room.
Understanding of metrology, sources of measurement error, and uncertainty analysis
Experience with HIL systems
Experience in wind tunnel and aircraft ground and flight testing
Experience with electric and hybrid aircraft
Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
