We are looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team working on future wearables and accessory devices reporting directly to the VP of Hardware.  This opportunity will be hybrid out of our San Diego office.

What You will do:

  • Electrical Design and development of cutting-edge wearable and other consumer devices, with a keen focus to detail, precision, and reliability.  This includes electrical architecture, schematic design, and integration into PCBs, flexes, and other new technologies as required.

  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components within the product's physical design. Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop embedded systems and ensure software-hardware compatibility.
  • Work with leadership to help define and refine product roadmaps and timelines

We would love to have you on our team, if you have:

  • Project Experience: 10+ years of experience designing and shipping high volume consumer electronics as an HW Systems Integrator, who loves working on highly creative, fast-paced, and collaborative teams alongside Firmware Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Industrial and Interaction Designers.   Experience working with ultra low power microprocessors, SoCs, MEMS sensors, and Wireless Charging technologies.  Connected wearables and optical sensing experience preferred.
  • Electrical Design and Validation: Experience designing and validating custom analog and digital circuits and systems, including component selection, signal processing, and extremely comfortable with many communication protocols: UART, I2C, MIPI, SPI, DSI, and others.  Experience scripting basic functions and working alongside firmware engineers to automate testing.
  • Design Software Tools:  Experience working with schematic capture and PCB layout software (ie. Altium, Cadence, etc)
  • Prototyping: Hands on experience building prototypes and validating electrical and signal performance using typical EE lab equipment: rework equipment, DMMs, Oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power analyzers.
  • Manufacturing Expertise:  Detailed experience designing, building, and testing high density PCBs, flexes, batteries, and sensing modules from concept to production.  Experience working closely with CMs/JDMs to design and manufacture high precision and high quality products.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: You are comfortable with the unknown, the ambiguous, and strive to make engineering challenges a reality through creativity
  • Driven, Technical Leadership: Able to drive tasks independently, act as a leader and mentor across multiple organizations, organize, escalate and communicate issues and needs clearly.

Communication and Collaboration Skills: Effective communication and collaboration skills are important. Be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, work with other engineers and designers, and contribute to project planning and documentation.
