"Summary/objective
The Repair Technician position can be based inside a client's automotive repair facility or operate remotely, dependent upon current demands. The successful technician will provide various services to include consulting with the shop(s) and assisting in completing diagnostics scans to diagnose and recommend repairs for vehicles involved in collisions using the asTech® device. The technician will also provide on site repairs on a variety of makes and models of vehicles which were involved in a collision. Our Technicians effectively use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) scan tools, ALLDATA and web resources for automotive diagnostics and repair information to support the increase of demand in diagnostic scan volumes at their respective shops.Essential functionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.· Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models.· Independently complete basic, through advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles. · Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis· Be able to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS)· Be proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.· Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology· Be responsible for test driving and/or moving customer vehicles at shop locations· Utilize understanding of the structure and practices of various types of repair facilities, body shops, insurance carriers to facilitate effective working relationships· Coordinate with fellow technicians in performing in depth diagnostic test plans· Keep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occur· Adhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules· Ensure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state and ferdal laws
Independently complete basic through advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles, including but not limited to, passenger airbags, wire repairs, full interior jobs, dashboards and steering columns, fuse box repairs, Advanced Aftermarket products
· Complete remote pre, post and diagnostic scans for all makes and models and identify faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.
Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees, clients and insurance customers on a daily and consistent basisOther Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover all possible activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Minimum Qualifications:
Two to three years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive TechnicianOEM scan tool and/or after market scan tool experience and knowledgeProficient in identification of faults, error messages and modulesStrong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
Ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levelsMust have company designated certifications or obtain within 6 months: ASE, I-Car, MECPCurrent, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)Ability to create invoices and reports for services rendered, deliver and explain invoices to customersBasic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office
