Care Associate - Memory Care/11PM-7AM/Part Time Hours available

To qualify for the Care Associate position at Senior Lifestyle, it's preferred that you have experience working with seniors suffering from dementia. While it's not mandatory, possessing a CNA or CHHA license may be required depending on state laws. You should also have decent English proficiency to communicate effectively with residents and other staff. Basic computer skills, particularly with Outlook, Excel, and Word, are necessary as well. Above all, you should be compassionate and have a knack for problem-solving.

As a part-time Care Associate at Senior Lifestyle, you’ll work during the night shift, specifically from 11 PM to 7 AM. This schedule is great for those who are currently attending school or have other daytime commitments. With part-time hours, you will have the flexibility to balance work and personal time while still making a significant impact in the lives of our residents.

When addressing personal care for residents in a Memory Care setting, I focus on maintaining their dignity, safety, and independence. I would first communicate with them to give them control over decisions that affect their care. Active listening and engaging with their needs and preferences are crucial as it helps build trust.

In a challenging situation with a resident, I would remain calm and approach the situation with empathy. For instance, if a resident becomes distressed during an activity, I would assess their feelings and provide comfort or distraction, allowing them to feel safe. It’s all about knowing when to adapt and how to connect with them.

To engage residents in group activities, I focus on their interests and capabilities. I tailor the activity to their cognitive and physical abilities, ensuring it is inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Moreover, I incorporate social interactions, encourage conversations, and recognize achievements, no matter how small.

Timely communication is key to excellent care. I make it a point to document any changes in residents' conditions and pass this information on to the appropriate team members right away. I also welcome family feedback and concerns, responding promptly and keeping them informed about their loved ones.

To maintain my emotional well-being while working with seniors, I set aside time for self-care and debrief regularly with colleagues. Engaging in stress-relief activities such as walking or hobbies helps, too. I also make an effort to remember the joy and gratification that come from making a difference in their lives.
