Sr. Counsel for Litigation and Voting Rights

Position Summary: 


The DNC is hiring a Senior Counsel for Litigation and Voting Rights to manage the DNC’s litigation portfolio. This position reports to the DNC’s General Counsel and will work closely with the Voter Protection Director.



Responsibilities:
  • Manage the DNC’s offensive and defensive litigation;
  • Advise DNC leadership on litigation opportunities and strategy;
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact to our outside counsel; review and edit pleadings; and answer strategic questions on behalf of the organization;
  • Ensure that stakeholders and departments are tracking litigation updates that are relevant to their work;
  • Manage portions of our legal admin processes, including case budgeting, engagement letters; litigation holds; legal bill review, and insurance recovery; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school;
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar; 
  • At least seven years of civil litigation experience, in government, a nonprofit, a law firm, or an in-house legal department; 
  • At least five years of public interest litigation experience and/or two years of voting rights litigation experience preferred; and
  • A strong interest in and knowledge of Democratic politics and principles preferred.


$140,000 - $140,000 a year
The salary for this position is $140,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position. This position will be based at the DNC HQ in Washington, D.C., and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
