Are you passionate about pioneering cutting-edge technology leveraging GenAI and big data to revolutionize Walmart’s customer service experiences?

Do you dream of creating innovative systems and products that make a significant impact on hundreds of millions of customers across the globe? As a Director of Software Engineering, you’ll be part of the technology leadership team for the Customer Care Technology group. You will focus on building software products, systems, and APIs to help Walmart customers and customer service agents resolve issues quickly and effortlessly. You will lead multiple customer care technology teams in India.

About the team

The Customer Care Technology team builds best-in-class customer service experiences for hundreds of millions of Walmart customers and customer service agents globally. We are a group of software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts pushing the boundaries of GenAI technology in complex enterprise applications. The Customer Care Technology team is part of the Enterprise Business Systems organization in Walmart Global Tech. We partner with our product and business teams to drive significant measurable business impact. Our mission is to help customers save money and live better.

  • Lead a High-Performing Team: Attract and develop top talent. Provide guidance, mentorship, and career growth opportunities to managers and team members. Set high performance expectations.
  • Foster Team Culture: Create an engaging and collaborative team environment.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and oversee system architecture decisions.
  • Operational Excellence: Build a culture of operational excellence, ensuring the availability, scalability, and performance of our systems. Enhance operational and engineering standards proactively.
  • Deliver Impactful Solutions: Own the delivery of software systems that significantly impact the company.
  • Define Technical Strategy: Collaborate and influence business and product teams to maximize long-term success.
  • Communicate Vision and Strategy: Effectively communicate vision and strategy to cross-functional teams, from senior leadership to partner teams and engineers.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD from a reputed institution.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in a related industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring software engineering teams.
  • 2+ years of experience managing other managers.
  • Demonstrated history of building successful software products at scale.
  • Strong system architecture, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence business and product teams with strong collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at communicating with executive levels, peers, and subordinates.
  • Demonstrated history of customer obsession and an agile mindset.
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
