STAFF, SOFTWARE ENGINEER - job 1 of 2

Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

About Team:

This is the team which builds reusable technologies that aid in acquiring customers, onboarding and empowering merchants besides ensuring a seamless experience for both these stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. In addition to ushering in affordability, we also create personalized experiences for customers the omnichannel way, across all channels - in-store, on the mobile app and websites.

Marketplace is the gateway to domestic and international Third-Party sellers; we enable them to manage their end-to-end onboarding, catalog management, order fulfilment, return & refund management. Our team is responsible for design, development, and operations of large-scale distributed systems by leveraging cutting-edge technologies in web/mobile, cloud, big data & AI/ML. We interact with multiple teams across the company to provide scalable robust technical solutions.

What you'll do:

  • Drive architecture, design, development, operation and documentation of large scale services.

  • Build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting associates of Walmart worldwide.

  • Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute

    to the tech community.

  • Engage with Engineers, Product Management and Business to drive the technical discoveries,

    design, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.

  • Drive Proof-of-Concepts and Proof-of-Technology evaluations

  • Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced

    processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Architects and cross functional teams and follow established practices for

    the delivery of solutions meeting

  • QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery). Within the established architectural guidelines.

  • Publish and update technical architecture and user/process documentation

  • You will need to exhibit strong technical leadership and communication skills to collaborate with

    business, product, engineering & management across different geographic locations.

  • Guide and mentor other team members to promote highly technical and self-sufficient teams.

What you'll bring:

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in Computer Science

  • 10 - 14 years of experience in design and development of highly-scalable applications and platform

    development in product based companies or R&D divisions.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.

  • 7+ of years hands-on experience building applications using - Java, Springboot, Microservices,

  • 5+ years of experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.

  • Extensive years of experience in RDMBS/ NoSQL databases, Enterprise Messaging Application

    (Kafka) and Big data (Spark)

  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing cloud-native Microservices

  • Architecture and related stacks using containerization technologies like Docker,

  • Kubernetes, etc.

  • Microservices Architecture and related stacks and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes,

    etc.)

  • Well versed in TDD,BDD methodologies and the enabling tools and technologies - JUnit, TestNG,

    Cucumber, CI/CD etc.

  • Practioner of Agile methodologies and DevOps

  • CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins

  • Experience with performance testing tools e.g. Jmeter, LoadRunner etc .

  • Experience with Architectural patterns for High Availability, performance, Scale our Architecture,

    Disaster Recovery, Security Architecture.

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructures, such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS

  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.

  • Proficient in new and emerging technologies.

  • Strong hands on development skills to prototype technical solutions.

  • Must be a proven performer and team player who enjoys challenging assignment with high enery in

    fast growing environment.

  • Strong engineering mindset who can drive design and development of automated monitoring,

    alerting and self-healing system
