Position Title: Pharmacy Technician Data Entry Specialist

Overview: Our Pharmacy Data Entry Specialists play a crucial role in the seamless operation of our pharmacy, ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of incoming prescriptions. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with other departments.


Key Responsibilities:


Prescription Processing:

Sort incoming faxed prescriptions, patient clinical and billing documentation, clinic billing information, and prescription clarifications.

Investigate clinical documentation and prescription clarifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Establish entry priorities based on criticality and urgency.

Data Entry:

Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy database, meticulously verifying details for accuracy.

Collaborate with pharmacists to seek approval for entered prescriptions.

Database Management:

Maintain the pharmacy database by ensuring all tasks are completed at the end of each day.

Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of all queues within the system.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct regular reviews of entered data to identify and rectify any discrepancies.

Implement measures to enhance data accuracy and integrity.

Collaboration:

Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to resolve any issues related to prescription processing.

Provide support to other departments as needed, contributing to overall data entry tasks.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a pharmacy technician is required

- 2+ year pharmacy technician experience (Data entry, retail setting preferred)

- Texas Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician licensed

- Must live in Houston, TX

- 35 WPM efficient in pharmacy math 

- Familiarity with pharmaceutical terminology and prescription processing.

- Proficient in using pharmacy database systems and software.

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
