Vehicle Ergonomics Engineer

In this role, you will lead the initiatives focused on Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Ergonomics for our autonomous vehicle platform. Your primary responsibility will be to craft and execute strategies that enhance passenger interaction with vehicle systems, ensure intuitive interfaces, and maximize comfort for a diverse range of users. By collaborating closely with UX designers and vehicle engineers, you will shape the way passengers interact with and experience our cutting-edge autonomous vehicles.


In this role, you will:
  • Lead the HMI and Ergonomics attribute in developing and implementing passenger-centric solutions by defining and driving ergonomic requirements for vehicle interior systems, including seating, displays, and controls
  • Develop comprehensive HMI strategies that ensure intuitive and accessible interaction for all users
  • Conduct user research and testing to validate design solutions and gather feedback
  • Collaborate with industrial design and engineering teams to optimize interior packaging
  • Create and maintain ergonomic specifications and guidelines for vehicle systems and ensure compliance with relevant safety and accessibility standards


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field
  • 7+ years experience in automotive HMI or user experience design
  • Proven track record in leading ergonomic assessments and human factors studies
  • Experience with digital interface design and user testing methodologies


Compensation


There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $230,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.


Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
