Overview:
As the Head of Machine Learning at Aleph Alpha you will lead the productization of state-of-the-art proprietary and open-source research to drive innovation and deliver commercially viable products. Combining deep learning expertise with strategic leadership, you will oversee a team of AI and Inferencing engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality machine learning solutions aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Shaping the AI vision for all our products and developing strategies to fulfil this vision.
Lead a high-performing team of AI engineers, fostering collaboration with Research and excellence. Manage the IC’s and their managers’ career path, feedback, and development.
Drive growth of the AI engineering function by owning the recruitment and interviews of AI and Inference engineers.
Be a cultural ambassador and role model for the AI engineers in all Product teams bu supporting them in finding the best methodology for every use case.
Be a tech lead in high impact projects oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning solutions ranging from inference-time control features, standard fine-tuning customizations, RLHF, and agentic workflows.
Collaborate with product and business teams to align AI solutions with organizational goals.
Coordinate publications and appearances at conferences of the teams (jointly with Research) as well as open-source contributions.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and apply them strategically.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from top university. PhD is preferred.
10+ years in machine learning, with at least one role in the GenAI context and 5+ years in leadership roles.
In depth understanding of LLMs, particularly Transformer architecture and on GPU level, and strong familiarity with popular NLP tools and frameworks to be able to provide guidance to principal AI engineers.
Experience in productionizing AI research innovations into real-world applications. You care about shipping AI solutions which will bring value to our users end-to-end and not end on building a prototype or writing a paper.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven ability to attract and retain top talent.
