POSITION SUMMARY
The GL Staff Accountant position will be responsible for a variety of payroll accounting functions relating to Alterra Mountain Company resorts including coordinating and executing weekly payroll postings, monthly general ledger processes, and performing advanced accounting tasks related to payroll analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities
Responsible for GL payroll accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
Ensure D365 GL payroll postings are complete and accurate for all US and Canadian resorts.
Prepare monthly US and Canadian balance sheet reconciliations for all payroll accounts and upload to OneStream in a timely manner according to established deadlines.
Prepare adjusting journal entries to align GL accounts with the appropriate support.
Investigate reconciling items and discrepancies; implement process improvements as necessary.
Perform variance analysis through investigation and assistance of the Payroll and HRIS teams.
Communicate payroll accounting issues effectively with the GL accounting team.
Develop an understanding of the industry to include recurring and non-recurring payroll transactions.
Prepare payroll audit schedules and assist auditors as necessary with annual audit.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant experience within a large corporate GL shared accounting services team is preferred
Knowledge of GAAP and GL accounting month-end close processes
Proficient with large ERP systems including D365, OneStream and Workday
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience working with a diverse team of people
Success at building relationships and collaborating cross-functionally across the organization
High attention to detail and accuracy
Proven ability resolve accounting issues and recommend process improvements
Team player that will approach work challenges with enthusiasm
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
4-year degree required; Accounting or Finance
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $58,000 - $81,000 per year
