Bitewell is seeking a Director of Media Relations & Brand Communications who can roll up their sleeves and lead our earned media and communications efforts. You won't just plan campaigns—you'll personally pitch media and secure the coverage that transforms Bitewell's FoodHealth Score from a novel technology to an essential part of consumers' relationship with food. You'll be the driving force behind our media presence, directly executing the outreach that turns early adopters into passionate advocates while establishing our credibility with mainstream audiences.

About Bitewell

Our vision is to create a world without diet-related disease. We're making this happen through our core product: The FoodHealth Score. The score is our proprietary, first-of-its-kind nutrition scoring system that combines cutting-edge science with innovative technology to give consumers insight and transparency into the healthfulness of food. We bring this to market with our partners in food retail, manufacturing, and data, which empowers customers to make healthier choices, merchandisers to stock healthier shelves and brands to make healthier products.

What You'll Do

  • Food Brand Accelerator: You've driven PR and earned media for innovative food or nutrition companies that broke through the clutter and achieved remarkable consumer recognition.

  • Media Connection Builder: You've cultivated genuine relationships with journalists covering food innovation, health trends, and consumer technology—and they actually answer when you call.

  • Results Generator: You've personally executed high-impact media relations programs that delivered measurable business results, transforming media hits into business momentum.

  • Startup Navigator: You thrive in scrappy environments that let you get creative—where results come through personal initiative and creative problem-solving.

  • Narrative Architect: You have an uncanny ability to translate complex food science or technology concepts into compelling stories that capture mainstream audiences.

  • Execution Master: You balance strategic thinking with relentless implementation, knowing that the best plan means nothing without flawless execution.

  • Mission Catalyst: You're genuinely passionate about improving health outcomes through food and excited about creating a movement around more informed food choices.

Who You Are

  • Brand Builder: Proven track record of elevating emerging companies into widely-recognized, emotionally-connected brands with devoted followings.

  • Cultural Translator: Skilled at identifying broader cultural currents and positioning brands to authentically participate in timely conversations.

  • Community Cultivator: Experience fostering passionate user communities that drive word-of-mouth momentum and organic advocacy.

  • Media Strategist: Expert at securing the right coverage in the right publications to build credibility while maintaining a brand's distinctive edge.

  • Storytelling Architect: Ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate deeply and create emotional connection beyond product features.

  • Digital Native: Understanding of how traditional media, social platforms, and influencer ecosystems work together to build modern brand movements.

  • Mission-Aligned: Passionate about improving health outcomes through food and excited about creating a community of advocates around nutrition technology.
