Tooling Technician - Full time!

Job Title: Tooling Technician

Pay: $29.32-$31/hourly depending on experience!

Shift/hours: Nights on a 12 hour 2-2-3 schedule. 6:35 PM – 6:45 AM

What you will do:

· Setup and operate all types of tool room equipment and improvise where equipment is limited

· Plan and lay out work, determine accurate and efficient methods

· Read and interpret complicated drawings and work to extremely close tolerances using precision tool room equipment and measuring characteristics of steels and other common metals and their heat treating processes

· Diagnose and correct mold deficiencies

· Maintain spare parts inventory for molds

· Work well under pressure to repair equipment quickly

· Reads and understands electrical, equipment manuals, pneumatic schematics as well as mechanical drawings

· Working with High Performance teams for continuous improvements

· Keep work areas clean and orderly following 5S procedures

· Strictly adhere to all plant safety rules

· Take active part in group meetings to maintain safety, quality, and increase productivity and morale

· Perform other tasks as assigned including tool work if needed in areas other than tool room

 

How you will do it:

Under general supervision, alter and repair molds of a complex and precise nature; make, alter and repair gauges, jigs and fixtures, special machines and other devices in the daily manufacturing of injection molded battery components.

· Setup and operate all types of tool room equipment and improvise where equipment is limited

· Plan and lay out work, determine accurate and efficient methods

· Read and interpret complicated drawings and work to extremely close tolerances using precision tool room equipment and measuring characteristics of steels and other common metals and their heat treating processes

· Diagnose and correct mold deficiencies

· Maintain spare parts inventory for molds

· Work well under pressure to repair equipment quickly

· Reads and understands electrical, equipment manuals, pneumatic schematics as well as mechanical drawings

What we look for:

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Must have at least 2 years previous experience (or educational equivalent) with tooling maintenance and repair

· Two year technical degree, or related certificate program, preferred

· Strong working knowledge of machine shop tools including Heliarc and electric arc welding equipment, electrical testing equipment, micrometer, veneer calipers, dial and depth indicator micrometers, and hand tools

· Must have a learner mentality – willing to increase scope and knowledge of the position

· Strong team player

· Excellent verbal communication skills

Under general supervision, you will perform safe operation of continuous strip caster, rolling mill, and grid stamping operations for the production of lead grid for automotive batteries.
