Product Designer-Project Atlantic

“Project Atlantic”is a new B2B SaaS start up, currently pre-market fit and operating in “stealth” mode. While initially based inside Control Risks, the intent is to have “Project Atlantic”spun out and independent at a future point. You will join a small, lean, and highly dynamic environment, driven by a common aspiration to fundamentally reimagine two decades of compliance and commerce assumptions and best practice. Creativity, passion, drive, dynamism, intellect, flexibility, and contrarian thinking will be the fundamental qualities we ask in those joining us. Given the lean nature of the team, we are seeking people who are curious to get involved in all aspects of the venture to build a common and seamless product not hindered by silos.

As Product Designer, you will be part of the founding team, responsible for painting color into a black & white image of the future. You will play a foundational role in defining the user experience, aesthetics, and usability of our platform concept. Working closely with product, engineering, and customers, you will translate insights from customer discovery and interviews into wireframes, prototypes, and an evolving design system that helps us achieve product-market fit. You will take ownership of both UX (user experience) and UI (user interface), ensuring the product is not only highly functional but also visually compelling—particularly in data visualization and workflow clarity.

This is a unique opportunity to define the look, feel, and usability of a product from scratch, working in a small, high-energy team solving customer problems in an innovative, beautiful and elegant way, developing long term product market fit in the process.

What You'll Do:

User-Centered Product Design & Research

  • In coordination with the Product Manager and other Project Atlantic leadership, lead customer discovery & usability testing – conduct interviews, gather feedback, and translate insights into tangible design solutions that drive us in the direction of product market fit.
  • Develop wireframes & prototypes – rapidly iterate on low-to-mid-fidelity designs for testing and validation with users.
  • Create clear user journeys – along with the Product Manager, map out workflows, ensuring intuitive navigation and interaction.
  • Own the visual information hierarchy – design interfaces that help users digest and interact with complex data efficiently.

UI, Aesthetics & Visual Identity

  • Take ownership for defining and evolving the product’s design system – establish the visual style and UI patterns from the ground up in high fidelity.
  • Balance aesthetics & functionality – ensure that our product is not only beautiful but also optimized for clarity and usability.
  • Innovate in data visualization – work on intelligent, interactive ways to represent compliance and governance data to drive user engagement.
  • Work closely with Head of Technology and others to ensure successful execution of design elements in technical development, ensuring exceptional client experience and satisfaction
  • Have overall control of product design and elegance. We want Project Atlantic to be beautiful, consistent and minimal, and need you to lead efforts to ensure the look, feel & UX across the customer experience and associated sub-products are optimised.

Collaboration & Product Development

  • Work closely with product & engineering – Ensure a seamless transition from design to development.
  • Champion user feedback loops – Help the team iterate based on data-driven insights.
  • Advocate for great design – Educate and align stakeholders around customer-first, intuitive UX/UI principles.

Who You Are:

  • Proven significant digital product design leadership experience, ideally inside a SaaS start up environment, and ideally supporting a multi-sided marketplace product.
  • Evidence of working inside a pre-product market fit environment, and of being flexible, cross functional, with a demonstrated ability to drive product innovation and bring products to market successfully.
  • Evidenced of your focus and obsession on beauty, elegance and simplicity in product design and UX, and an ability to manage others to help achieve this.
  • Evidence of being problem/outcome rather than solution/output focused – we are trying to solve unserved problems, not just build products.
  • 5+ years in UX/UI design, ideally in B2B SaaS, AI-driven products, or complex enterprise workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma (required) and familiarity with other tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, or Framer.
  • Experience in wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • A keen eye for aesthetics & simplicity – Ability to create clean, intuitive interfaces, particularly for data-heavy applications.
  • User research & testing experience – Strong ability to translate insights into actionable design decisions.
  • Experience in early-stage startups or fast-moving environments where ambiguity and iteration are the norm.
  • Strong collaboration skills – Ability to work closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly.
  • Comfortable operating in a start-up working environment, with the ability to build trusted internal relationships
  • Is sensitive and responsive to individual and cultural differences, adjusting style to get the best from individuals
  • Maintains high standards in dealing with people, is a role model and leads teams and individual performance in a consistent and professional manner.
  • Ensures sound commercial awareness applied to all solutions, harnessing margin improvement

  • Control Risks offers a competitively positioned compensation and benefits package that is transparent and summarised in the full job offer.
  • We operate a discretionary global bonus scheme that incentivises, and rewards individuals based on company and individual performance.
  • Control Risks supports hybrid working arrangements, wherever possible, that emphasise the value of in-person time together - in the office and with our clients - while continuing to support flexible and remote working.
  • As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join us and are fully committed to equal treatment, free from discrimination, of all candidates throughout our recruitment process

Control Risks is committed to a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age or veteran status”

If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made in order to participate fully in the interview process, please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.
