A "Chem Lab Tech" at Alliance would refer to a laboratory technician working within the Copeland company, specifically focusing on chemical analysis and testing, utilizing Copeland’s specialized laboratory equipment to perform experiments and quality checks on chemical samples, often within the context of industrial automation and chemical production processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• The primary role would be to conduct chemical analyses on samples, using techniques like titration, pH analyses, conductivity etc., to ensure chemical concentrations are within company specifications.
• Responsible for handling and moving chemicals and oil around the facility.
• The ability to operate on shift with little to no supervision.
• Must be able operate Allen Bradley systems throughout the plant to start/shutdown and clear faults without maintenance assistance.
• Move, store, and organize hazardous chemicals in containment areas inside the facility.
• Be able to pass online courses that are relevant to the job duties performed on a daily basis.
• Accuracy and attention to detail throughout daily activities.
• Trains other team members in assigned operations as needed.
• Maintain a clean work area to meet safety regulations of the facility.
• Work in a team environment to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at all times.
• Assure compliance to all safety, environmental and health standards, procedures, and practices
• Ability to pass confined space training.
• Ability to pass hazardous waste storage and disposal training.
• Must learn lockout/tagout procedures and proper PPE to be worn during specific jobs performed.
• Perform scheduled cleanouts on multiple washers throughout the year.
• Troubleshoot problems with the washers and chemical pumps and fix/replace when needed.
• Receive, store and transfer bulk oil to plant for manufacturing processes.
• Work in and around hazardous chemicals on a regular basis.
*Guaranteed wage progression every 3 months, for the first two years! *
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate simple percentages. Be able to add and subtract decimal values. Basic Math test will be required.
Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to work mandatory weekend overtime schedules.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Must have a basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and equipment.
• Must be able to climb in and out of individual stages of washers.
• Work under extreme environmental conditions.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat for long periods, and push or pull chemical drums and equipment around plant.
• Ability to read and understand job instructions.
• Must be able to operate a forklift. Training is provided to obtain certification.
• Pass pre-employment background check, essential functions assessment, and drug screen.
• High school diploma or GED required.
