About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Plumbing Estimator to join our team. The plumbing estimator is a critical role at Ernest that operates remotely and works across all markets. Estimators at Ernest are proven leaders who will work alongside the lead estimator and play a critical role in our growth by managing the bidding of timely, accurate and comprehensive plumbing estimates for multifamily, commercial, industrial, and federal projects.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Provide complete and accurate plumbing estimates while ensuring timely completion of each bid

  • Review and interpret plans and specifications to determine job-specific requirements for materials, equipment, and labor, and prepare accurate cost estimates for projects

  • Submit detailed RFQs for vendors and subcontractors to provide pricing

  • Prepare and present completed estimating packages to estimating leadership, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and organized

  • Attend post-bid review and project kick-off meetings with the owner as needed

  • Collaborate with project managers to continuously improve current processes by analyzing past performance and refining the overall bid process

What you’ll need: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a plumbing estimator or relevant experience in plumbing estimating, with a focus on commercial projects.

  • Strong knowledge of plumbing mechanical systems and various material types.

  • Proficiency in using plumbing estimating software, with a preference for FastPipe.

  • Strong technical writing skills, and the ability to read and interpret drawings and construction plans.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Suite and GSuite products, with a specific focus on MS Excel.

  • Initiative, attention to detail, and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while also being able to collaborate in team settings.
