Chef, Communication et relations communautaires / Lead, Communication & Community Relations

Are you energized by a highly visible communications role that allows you to shape and drive the execution of communications for our innovative medicines?  If so, this General Communications Director role could be an exciting opportunity to explore.

As a General Communications Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing GSK’s US business unit communications strategy to support commercial team’s objectives and raise awareness of GSK’s innovation track record. 

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Lead the development and execution of product communications plans in the US for select medicines. 
  • Serve as a communications point for all materials related to disease awareness, product milestones, patient stories and issues management. 
  • Provide communications counsel and strategic direction to senior leaders and business decision makers. 
  • Establish and implement a strategic communications platform for select medicine in the US, as well as provide insight and input about communications and media implications of proposed business actions. 
  • Track, monitor and analyze news to understand the evolving external environment, competitor activities, and who in the media is writing about them. 
  • Direct and implement a relationship management program with target journalists who write about GSK medicines. 
  • Build and manage relationship program with journalists, editors and other key stakeholders who cover medicines, pharmaceutical issues, pharmacy, and healthcare.
  • Serve as the point of contact for targeted print, wire, broadcast and online journalists.
  • Help develop crisis communications plans, run simulation exercises, and develop messaging and response plans. 
  • Serve as a contact point for liaising with the press on key product communications issues.
  • Develop effective metrics and incorporate them into communications plans to evaluate communications effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Work with PR agency and other agency partners as needed to develop and execute tactical media and communications plans.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 or more years of communications experience, in product communications or in bio-pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience developing and executing strategic plans that span primary external communications channels (traditional/social media, conferences, external experts)
  • Crisis/issue management experience including  experience supporting key regulatory milestones

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master’s degree
  • Previous experience working with the media or using social media tools in a business setting
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience, including product development, approvals, and commercialization
  • Strong project management skills and ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
