We’re seeking an Elementary School Reading Specialist/Literacy Teacher who shares our goal: to get all our scholars to and through college.

Position Overview:

  • Provide targeted literacy interventions to our K-5 scholars, both individually and in small groups (approximately four students per session).
  • Support teachers in conducting reading assessments and collecting and analyzing data to inform instruction.
  • Use reading assessments to set student goals, monitor progress, and determine appropriate writing and reading intervention and support services.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to align literacy instruction with the total curriculum.
  • Develop clear evaluation criteria and communicate expectations to students.
  • Provide supplemental literacy instruction during extended learning opportunities (Academic Hour/Saturday Academy).

Teacher Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 7:40am – 4:00pm
  • 10-month school year with optional summer opportunities for additional pay
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Literacy (Birth–Grade 6) or Reading (Birth–Grade 6)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an urban school setting
