Gifted & Talented After School Math Teacher

In pursuit of this mission, we are seeking math teachers for our new after-school Gifted & Talented program. We are looking for individuals with deep content knowledge and expertise in mathematical practices. The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator who is passionate about challenging and inspiring gifted learners, fostering a culture of critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.
- State teaching certification (required) with a Mathematics endorsement (preferred)
- Current Lansing School District teachers preferred
- Proven track record of success in teaching mathematics courses.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire, and challenge students at an advanced level.
- Strong knowledge of mathematical problem-solving strategies, reasoning, and proof.
- Exceptional ability to foster intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and creativity.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and faculty.
- Deliver high-level, conceptually rich mathematics instruction tailored to gifted and talented students.
- Utilize inquiry-based, problem-solving, and discovery-driven instructional approaches to cultivate deep mathematical understanding.
- Encourage students to engage in higher-order thinking, abstract reasoning, and mathematical modeling.
- Foster an interactive, student-centered classroom environment that promotes collaboration and discourse.
- Communicate regularly with parents and administrators regarding student progress.
- Be present for the extent of the 8-week program.
