We're looking for an ambitious and versatile IT Engineer to join our rapidly growing IT team and take on the challenge of shaping the technology systems and infrastructure needed to drive our scaling biotechnology company forward. In this role, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats and tackle a variety of exciting near-term initiatives, from implementing a new network-attached storage platform and expanding compute systems for our software development team, to developing remote management infrastructure for our offices and conducting disaster recovery planning and testing. This position is located at our San Carlos, CA office and will report to the Head of IT (located in Seattle, WA).
Responsibilities
Research, select, design, and deploy systems and infrastructure
Evolve current systems to meet the changing needs of the business
Build and maintain servers, operating systems, networking equipment, wifi, authentication platforms, public cloud infrastructure, security applications, business tools
Provide support to a wide variety of people with varying job functions
Educate people on ways technology can help optimize workflows
Troubleshooting performance issues with systems and network
Support company commercialization efforts as we bring products to market
Keep current with trends and new technologies that can help the company on our mission
Learn the systems we utilize that you may not have used before
Developing and refining policies and procedures within the team
Learning the needs of scientific users in fast paced environment and ensure technologies are in place to support those users
Bring ideas to improve efficiency while maintaining agility
Implement standard workflows to support rapid company growth across all areas
Build up documentation library to enable self-service solutions
Everyone is a learner and a teacher – you will play both roles
Teach others relevant technologies and skills that can help us move faster
Requirements
Proven track record of quality IT customer service
Ability to self-manage time and priorities with limited supervision
7-10 years’ experience in IT infrastructure support
Experience managing enterprise SaaS applications
Strong desire to automate away repeatable tasks
Comfortable taking on unfamiliar projects and tools regularly
Multi-platform (Windows, MacOS and Linux) expertise
Network infrastructure management – routing, switching, firewalls
Prior experience working in a regulated environment (SOX)
Strong written documentation skills around process as well as technology
May require some lifting (50lbs), bending, and other associated physical activity to manage inventory and troubleshoot equipment.
