SCOPE OF THIS ROLE:


The Communications team is responsible for building and enhancing Nielsen’s reputation as the leader in audience measurement. 


The Communications Vice President is responsible for creating, overseeing and executing publicity strategy for an essential part of Nielsen’s business: advertising technology. This involves placing positive stories in the press and arranging appearances at key industry events, while also managing relationships with Nielsen client PR teams. The job includes crafting proactive pitches utilizing Nielsen’s best-in-class audience measurement data. This role will also contribute to larger comms team objectives with a corporate communications function.

The Communications Vice President should be an expert in the advertising space. The candidate should have strong written and verbal communications skills; exceptional press relationships; a passion for the media and advertising businesses; and be a highly organized, proactive go-getter. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Communications.

You’re passionate about the media and advertising industry, with an understanding of the landscape and trends in measurement, streaming, TV and content development. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Focus every day on telling positive, data-driven stories related to the advertising industry.  
  • Draft press releases, media alerts and internal communications. 
  • Pitch a wide range of press, through the lens of telling positive ad-driven stories. 
  • Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Work closely with the commercial and consumer marketing teams to develop campaign-specific strategies for our advertising clients.  
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including events, commercial, marketing, social, PR, communityengagement, product, and brand, to ensure maximum engagement across all partnerships. 


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10-15 years of related experience in media, advertising, measurement space.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to solve tough problems and handle pressure to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-changing, adaptive environment with urgency and a proactive attitude. 
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong collaboration capabilities.
  • Strong negotiating skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Creative and process-driven. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $100,000 - $300,000, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications, and other business requirements/needs.
