Our US-based design team in Boston (formerly Essential Design) has been shaping the culture for decades through solutions that blend technology, lifestyle, and design.

What you’ll do 

As an intern, you’ll work on real projects, collaborating with designers, engineers, and strategists to develop creative solutions. You’ll get hands-on with prototyping, testing ideas, and refining designs based on feedback. You’ll also research design trends, contribute to client presentations, and gain valuable experience throughout the design process. If time allows, you’ll contribute to internal projects as an opportunity to develop your technical skills while helping our team bring ideas to life.  

 

Qualifications

 

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in Industrial Design with a desire to explore, learn and grow. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for exploring creative solutions. 

  • A fresh, original portfolio of diverse creative work that demonstrates wide-ranging concept exploration, creative solutions, and is visually appealing. 

  • Strong communication and visualization skills with the ability to articulate your design ideas. 

  • 2D design skills, including hand sketching and proficiency with tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, & Procreate. 

  • 3D modeling and rendering experience (SolidWorks/Fusion 360 and Keyshot preferred). 

  • Prototyping proficiency and ability to integrate feedback. 

*Interest in Generative AI application is a plus (ChatGPT, Midjourney, Vizcom, etc.). 

Please be sure to include a portfolio of your best work with your application. When hiring, we look for portfolios that demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a clear and well-documented design process, advanced ideation, model-making proficiency, and a distinct point of view. While meeting every qualification isn’t required, we value diverse perspectives and seek candidates with a collaborative mindset, critical thinking abilities, and a strong willingness to learn - along with a keen awareness of emerging trends and the ability to integrate them into their design approach.

Location: PA Consulting – Boston

This is a fully in person role. Please only apply if you will be able to work M-F in our Boston studio. 

Duration: 3-4 months between May and September (depending on the school schedule) with possibility of extension
