Scientific Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a Scientific Software Engineer who will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Developing algorithms, computer models, and scientific software programs for a variety of systems engineering, modeling and simulation, measurement, test and evaluation, and other tasks for current and anticipated customers. 
  • In support of naval vessel acoustic signature measurement programs, the individual will develop advanced machine learning algorithms and techniques in application areas such as large array beam-forming, near-real-time sonar and image processing systems, spectral and temporal noise characterization, calibration and measurement.
  • The individual will support the full software life cycle and software engineering process from requirements development through installation and maintenance of field ready operational software applications and prototype demonstrations.
  • The individual will work under the direction of project managers and senior scientists and engineers to solve customer problems through the application of science, engineering and mathematical principles and techniques.
  • Some local and long distance travel to client sites may be required to perform tests and participate in progress / results briefings and technical exchange meetings.

Bachelors degree and 0 years of experience.

 

Bachelors degree in computer science, applied math, the physical sciences, or electrical or mechanical engineering.

 

  • U.S. citizenship and Active Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer programming language as applied to algorithms and graphics. 
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly both verbally and through the written word is essential. 
  • Knowledge of signal processing techniques and experience using MATLAB is desirable. 
  • Course work and experience in physics, wave theory, signal processing, and acoustics is especially desirable.
  • Above all, candidate must demonstrate eagerness to learn new concepts, methodologies, and programming languages.
