What is the compensation package?
Pay Rate: (G27, G29) Starting at $54,259.14 - $69,373.46 (annualized) depending upon qualifications.

What are the main duties?
Conduct research and analysis on a wide range of policy issues relevant to the City of Provo, including but not limited to housing, transportation, economic development, sustainability, public safety, and social services.
Maintain required records.
Monitor local, state, and federal legislation and regulations, and assess their potential impact on the City of Provo. Assist in the development and drafting of ordinances, resolutions, and other legislative documents.
Analyze data and statistics to identify trends, evaluate policy effectiveness, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
Attend and participate in City Council meetings and other meetings as needed.
Prepare objective policy briefs, reports, presentations, and memoranda for city administration, Council members, and other staff.
Analyze budgetary information including research, identification, evaluation, prioritization and recommendation of funding sources.
Deliver presentations to the City Council to communicate research findings and policy recommendations.
Facilitate communication and collaboration between the City Council Office and city departments, community organizations, and residents on policy matters.
Obtain, analyze, and prepare all information and documents necessary for amendments to city code.
Respond to constituent inquiries related to policy issues.
Effectively and tactfully assist administration, departments, employees, and the public as needed and perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum requirements?
Provo will honor equivalent combinations of job-related education and experience [substituting each one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience].
Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or closely related field.
Two years of experience as a Policy Analyst or three years of comparable, job-related experience; or an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience.
A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 17, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
