Job Description

  • Lead, drive and continuously improve Cabin Safety in this key leadership role
  • Work with a broad stakeholder group to drive safety, strategy, compliance and best practice
  • Permanent full-time permanent position based in Mascot

As the Senior Manager Cabin Safety, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic safety programs which maximise cabin safety performance across Qantas Airways. This role will collaborate and influence executive operational leaders and key stakeholders to drive and align safety management activities and deliver optimal outcomes for our People and our Operations.  

Reporting to the Head of Safety – Qantas Airways & Freight, this role will assure regulatory compliance and internal safety governance whilst driving safety best practice for the Cabin Crew portfolio through a Group aligned approach of the management of risk and adherence to operational management standards and policies. The role plays a pivotal role in the design, discipline, reporting and continuous improvement of the Group Safety Management Systems. Additionally, this position will require strong experience in operating in complex stakeholder environments and engaging with safety regulatory authorities.

You’ll have –

  • Tertiary qualifications related to WHS, Aviation, Regulatory Compliance or Risk
  • Extensive experience and knowledge with compliance, legislation and relevant industry regulations with an in-depth knowledge of safety management systems and governance frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic safety programs
  • Previous experience in a complex, regulated operational environment – previous Airline experience ideal, however not essential
  • Proven management and people leadership experience, including a proven track record of leading successful, high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple projects and resolve complex business issues
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the proven ability to quickly form and leverage effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence positive outcomes at all levels including senior leadership
  • Proven ability to make autonomous decisions and drive a change and continuous improvement agenda
  • A demonstrated ability to develop strategy and facilitate, influence and drive strategic outcomes
