From bones to brains, our cutting-edge hospital heals even the most serious of injuries, specializing in everything from total joint replacement to spinal cord injuries and neurological condition. In total, our 141-bed facility welcomes over 3,000 patients every year. As the state’s largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation services, we offer some of the most advanced therapies for stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic and sports injury, among many others.
This is a Monday - Friday position with evenings 1 time per month for support groups and occasional for community outings.
General Summary
Delivers advanced recreational therapy services, through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of recreational therapy. Collaborates with leadership in identifying gaps and opportunities for professional development and performance activities. Assists leadership in the identification and resolution of complex clinical and operational issues. Assists with interviewing, orienting, training, and supervising team members.

The UM Rehab & Ortho Institute is on the lookout for a Therapeutic Recreation Therapist IV to join our dedicated team in Baltimore, MD! As a leader in orthopedics and neurological care, we combine advanced therapeutic services with compassionate patient care in our state-of-the-art facility. In this full-time role, you'll have the opportunity to deliver advanced recreational therapy by assessing patient needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and providing support through various therapeutic leisure activities. You'll be collaborating with a committed leadership team to identify areas for professional development and ensure high-quality care for our patients. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing team member training, performing patient evaluations, and maintaining documentation in accordance with professional standards. We're looking for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with at least four years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to varying needs.
