Who You Are

A Visual Designer with a depth of experience focusing on understanding and advocating for users. You’ve contributed to all aspects of design, iterating through potential solutions, mental models, and feature priorities through personas, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, information architecture, and detailed design. You have:

Proven experience as a Visual Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
Extensive experience in using design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.
Understanding of UX principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with UX designers.
Knowledge of design systems, typography, color theory, and composition.
Performed iterative design prototyping from low fidelity sketches to high-fidelity interactive experiences
Regularly sought and participated in design reviews with project teams and the broader design discipline through a lens of usability, accessibility, feasibility, and aesthetic quality
Collaborated closely with developers to ensure faithful interpretation of design through delivery

What You’ll Do At 8th Light

You’ll create user research procedures and assets (personas, journey maps, etc.) as well as user interface wireframes and prototypes, working with fellow design team members. You will also support client projects, performing user research and creating software user experiences. In unison with the design and engagement teams, you will be responsible for:

Designing human-centered software solutions across a range of industries and client organizations, with at least 3 years of experience.
Applying the design process to solve complex problems across a variety of software contexts (e.g. mobile, desktop, web, and hardware) with a portfolio that demonstrates your skills
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX designers, developers, and product managers, to create visually stunning and user-centric design solutions.
Lead the visual design phase of projects from concept to delivery, ensuring a seamless and visually cohesive user experience.
Develop and maintain design systems, guidelines, and best practices to elevate the overall quality of design deliverables.
Translate complex ideas and concepts into visually engaging and compelling design solutions.

High-quality presentation and writing skills
Knowledge of emerging technologies e.g., web3

At 8th Light, we are committed to a compensation philosophy that is transparent, fair, and helps us attract and retain top talent in alignment with our company’s strategic growth goals and clients’ needs.

We benchmark our salaries using Geographic Structures to establish competitive pay ranges within the regions where 8th Lights live. Our pay ranges for our Principal Crafter position within our four US structures are as follows:

Structure 1 (Tampa Metro, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin)
RANGE: $77,455-$91,010 USD

Structure 2 (Chicago Metro, Miami Metro, Philadelphia Metro, Raleigh Metro )
RANGE: $81,394- $95,637 USD

Structure 3 (Austin Metro, Boston Metro , DC Metro)
RANGE: $86,645-$101,108 USD

Structure 4 (Los Angeles, Seattle, New York City)
RANGE: $90,321-$106,127 USD
