Job Description

The Finance Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations and ensuring all financial and administrative operation processes relating to operations are effective, efficient, accurate and compliant. This is a newly created position in our structure reporting straight into the Financial Controller at AFCA with a leadership component. You will be an experienced financial operator, who is able to drive continuous improvement in our AR & AP processes whilst embedding and creating enhanced processes. We are looking for a finance professional with skills in project and workflow management who can drive changce and workflow management in this space. 

Typically, in this role you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end processing of AP and AR with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Workflow review, forward planning and optimisation of capacity, including effectively communicating changes across teams.
  • Assist AP and AR teams with problem solving/trouble shooting, including managing finance system issues & improvements relating to AP and AR.
  • Daily oversight of AP and AR enquiries including ensuring all incoming queries are managed efficiently and within agreed timelines.
  • Develop and embed team practices to ensure all stakeholders, including members and internal stakeholders, are provided effective customer service with timely resolution of queries.
  • Overseeing collections activities including reminder and final demand notices, along with collection phone calls to members.
  • Oversee the member expulsion process, ensuring records of collection activities are correctly documented.
  • Responsible for AP and AR reporting, including aged debtors and receipting, supplier transactions, and collections activities.
  • Maintain D365 F&O Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable modules including ensuring data and system updates are correctly processed.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a high-volume AR function in a large organisation.
  • Experience in AP, with a solid understanding of procurement processes and working with purchase order transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels and demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask and delegate effectively.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service ability.
  • Excellent attention to detail, a high-level of accuracy and efficient and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft D365 FinOps, SAP, Oracle) and strong skills using Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated continual improvement of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
